I had put my
father in another facility and wasn’t happy.
I couldn’t stand visiting. I would find him
sitting in a wheelchair in his room with his
head down. The only time he got a visit from
the staff was when he received his
medications or if they had something to do.
He was so weak that he needed assistance.
The CNA’s were busy and they often got to
him too late. He was going deeper into
himself and no one was trying to pull him
out. It would have been nice to go back to
his home, but he needed 24-hour care.
We had
previously visited Alzcare. Both times we
came unannounced. They let us in and treated
us very nice. It wasn’t prearranged.
Everything was wonderful. Here at Alzcare
the girls are the ones initiating the
interactions. My daddy is very happy. He
tells us all the time. He told us yesterday!
The difference is, they talk to him! He’s
cared for like he’s a member of their
family.
When I visit,
I hate to leave. I enjoy the other residents
and the girls are so much fun.
I also used to
never be able to keep his clothing. I had
lost so many pairs of pants at the other
place. They would launder all of the
residents’ clothes together. Everything
would get mixed up. We’re not having those
problems here-they wash his clothes
separately. So, I don’t mind bringing him
nice things, like his comforter and his
favorite cologne.
When I walk in
the door it’s clean and friendly. I have
never visited a place that gives such good
care. I like the animals and the residents
there enjoy them too. I like the way they
worked with his leg. (An amputee, Mr. Tally
had to have assistance putting his
prosthetic leg on and removing it on a
specified schedule.) You also have a nurse
on hand and a nurse practitioner that comes
out.
He’s so much
better. His mood is so much improved. He is
happier in his wheelchair. He never has been
one to just sit by himself. He is much
happier. I just love to come over there to
visit.
I also enjoy
the fact that the girls do pedicures and
manicures to the female residents. Women
just love that. It means a lot.
If I ever get
to the point that I need that kind of help,
I hope there would be an AlzCare for me. |
